GRAND LEDGE (1993-1997)

             Track: MHSAA Class A State Champ in High Jump (1997). Only 2nd ever track state champion from GL, men or women (1st since 1952). School & State Record in High Jump (7’0). Team CAC Champs (1st CAC title and first league title for Men’s track since 1973 - only 4th ever at the time). Broke School Record in the Long Jump in 1996 (22’2.5) that was set in 1963 by Jerry Jones (broken again in 2012). 3rd best 300m Hurdle time in school history (2nd best in 1997). CAC Champion in High Jump and Long Jump. Regional Champion High Jump. Undefeated in the High Jump his senior year, 1997.  Most points scored in a single season in school history (249.5). 1997 U.S. National Scholastic Indoor Track & Field Championships [Boston, MA] - Pentathlon: Runner-Up (ALL-AMERICAN Honors). 1997 MITCA HS Indoor High Jump & Long Jump State champion (22'6") and State Finalist in the 55 Meter High Hurdles. Cross Country: 3 Varsity Letters, member of 1995 & 1996 regional championship teams. Coached by Hall of Fame members Jim Brandt, Kim Spalsbury, Carl Chapman.

MICHIGAN STATE (1997-2002)

            Team Indoor Big Ten Champs (1999), 1st team All-Big Ten Decathlon (2000), 2nd Team All-Big Ten Indoor Heptathlon (2001), 2nd Team All-Big Ten Outdoor Decathlon (2001), 2nd Team All-Big Ten Outdoor High Jump (2002), Long jump best - 23'3". Winner of the Central Collegiate Championships in High Jump (2000). Top 25 Heptathlon Score in the United States in 2001, collegiate and professional. Top 15 Performer in MSU School History (High Jump, Decathlon, Heptathlon). 

At the time of his Graduation from MSU, Jeff was a top 10 performer in MSU school history in 3 different events (High Jump, Decathlon, Heptathlon). Champion of numerous individual event titles at invitational meets, dual meets and quad meets. Competed in High Jump, Long Jump, 100m dash, 110m High Hurdles, 4x100m Relay, 4x400m Relay, Shot Put, Javelin, Decathlon and Heptathlon. Coached by Big Ten Coach of the Year, Darroll Gatson, and coached by Will Wabaunsee.
