LSJ Obituary (Feb 27, 1990): "Age 95, a prominent civic leader in Grand Ledge, died February 25, 1990 at his home in Grand Ledge. He was born in Thompsonville, MI in 1894 before moving with his family to GL in 1902. He practiced dentistry for 50+ years in Grand Ledge before retiring in 1968. He was chosen by his profession to receive the Michigan Dental Association Citizen of the Year Award in 1980. He served three 7-year terms on the MSU Board of Dentistry during his career. He was past president of the Central District Dental Society and an American College of Dentists Fellow. He was a member of the GL Rotary Club (joining in 1942); earning a Harris Fellowship Award & an honorary membership. He was a founding member of both the GL Area Chamber of Commerce & the GL Historical Society, also serving on the boards of both organizations. He was a Boy Scout leader & promoted involvement of young people in athletics. He was the oldest member of St. Michael Church. Before his graduation from Grand Ledge High School in 1912, he was a member of the school's first football & baseball teams. He earned his degree in dentistry in 1917 from the University of Michigan where he also played baseball. He was believed to be the oldest member of the Country Club of Lansing.
