June 17th, 1995 Grand Ledge HS beat Rochester Adams, 7-4 to capture their second MHSAA Division 1 Baseball Championship 

“Getting off to a fast start won Grand Ledge it’s first MHSAA baseball championship since 1977, and it’s second overall. The Comets scored 5 runs in the first two innings. Grand Ledge chased Adams starter Renshaw in the second inning, and later held off a Highlander comeback to finish the season with a 35-5 record, and a 30-game winning streak. Sherrill and Boyce led the Comet half of the first with extra base hits, and the winners went on to tally eight hits. Boyce had four, scored twice and added a pair of runs batted in. Wasen and Czamecki fueled the Adams’ comeback efforts. Each had two hits, while Wasen had three runs batted in. Two of Wasen’s RBI’s came as part of a three-run sixth inning. Rosales came on in relief of Grand Ledge starter Lipsey in the seventh, allowing only a walk in his one inning of work.”

After starting the season 4-5, the Comets went on to win 31 straight games, led by 1st team All-State Senior Jacob Sanborn and 2nd Team All-State Junior Nate Sherrill. The Comets achieved the championship “Triple Crown”, which includes the CAC Conference, Diamond Classic and capping off the season with the Comets 2nd MHSAA State Championship.
