Jaysen Hansen was a cornerstone of the 1995 state championship golf team at Grand Ledge High School, demonstrating early on that precision and poise could create champions. A 4x All-State selection, he set multiple school scoring records, and led the golf team to multiple league, regional, and tournament championships in addition to the 1995 state title. Hansen was also a member of the Varsity hockey team during his time at GLHS, earning a couple more varsity letters in addition to his 4 from Golf.
At Eastern Michigan University, Hansen played for the golf team from 1997 to 2002. Over the course of his collegiate career, he compiled a career scoring average of 74.74, ranking among the top players in program history. He delivered standout performances such as a 67 (-5) at the Legends of Indiana Intercollegiate and a 69 (-2) at the First Energy Collegiate, consistently demonstrating his skill and ability to perform under pressure. Listed as “one of the best golfers in school history” mentored by longtime coach, Bruce Cunningham.
Following graduation, Hansen became a golf professional and later assumed the role of head golf professional at Beechmont Country Club in Cleveland, Ohio, where he excelled both in club management and competitive play. Hansen’s professional career includes qualifying for the PGA Championship in 2017 and 2018 through the PGA Professional Championship. In the 2017 PGA Professional Championship, he tied for ninth place with a total of 288, shooting rounds of 74-72-73-69. He returned to the PGA Championship in 2018, competing at the highest level of professional golf.
Hansen also claimed victory in the 2020 Northern Ohio PGA Professional Championship at Westbrook Country Club, rallying from a five-shot deficit with a final-round 4-under 68 to finish with a 54-hole total of 4-under 212. He followed this with another triumph in 2025 at the Northern Ohio PGA Professional Championship at Tippecanoe Country Club, posting a 3-under 69 for his second title in this prestigious tournament.
From his early days as a high school state champion to his career as a respected PGA professional, Jaysen Hansen’s legacy demonstrates the impact of dedication, precision, and passion, marking him as one of Grand Ledge’s most accomplished and celebrated athletes.
